Gary also enjoys volunteering for Mercy International in Honduras.   He began working with his father as a trim carpenter in 1972 when he was 14.  Gary has a passion for trim work and a unique ability to create distinctive details.

He will share the tricks and techniques that he’s refined during more than 40 years of building custom homes.  They can be applied to many disciplines in woodworking.  The days program will consist of two sections:

Bisquick Cabinets
Built- ins and storage cabinets are always in high demand. Gary ends up building some cabinets on just about every job. Desks, dressers, window seats, bookcases and consoles are very different projects, but he uses one simple construction method to build them all. His system is based around the speed and strength of Kreg pocket hole joinery. Starting from a story pole right through to building drawers and doors Gary will show how to build cabinets the Kreg way.

Router Workshop
Routers are one of the most versatile tools Gary uses as a woodworker and trim carpenter. By far they are also the tool that enables me to be creative. The first routers were called hand held shapers. Today the options for different types of routers and bits is staggering. In this class Gary will describe the benefits and uses of each of the four types of routers sold today then explain the three types of router bits. Gary will also cover the three ways to guide your cut with a router bit and share his tips for getting the best cut.
Moving on to applications Gary will demonstrate adding details to cabinets and furniture with router bits. Gary will also share using router to make curved trim, dentil molding, rout mortises for hardware, make corbels, brackets and panel details.
Gary has over 45 years of experience using routers and loves to share all the tips and tricks he has picked up over the years so don’t miss this class.
